What does an interior fit-out include?
A fit-out brings together the work needed to make an interior ready for its intended use. Depending on the property, that may include partitions, ceilings, surface finishes, cabinetry, lighting coordination and installation. A home that is already fitted out may instead need a targeted renovation.
The term “turnkey” is often used for a coordinated service, but it does not tell you what a particular quotation includes. Ask for the design, supply, installation and handover responsibilities to be listed in writing.
Define the boundaries before comparing prices
- Which rooms and areas are included, and what will remain?
- Who provides drawings, finish schedules and material samples?
- Which joinery, lighting, appliances and loose furniture are included?
- Does any proposed work affect existing electrical, plumbing or air-conditioning services?
- Who coordinates building requirements, access, deliveries and any necessary approvals?
- How will changes, snagging and handover be handled?
Ask each provider to quote against the same brief. A lower headline figure can reflect fewer items rather than a lower price for the same work.
Plan execution around the property
Access routes, lift bookings, permitted working arrangements and available storage can influence how a project is organised. Confirm the applicable building or community requirements with the relevant management before finalising the schedule. Requirements vary by property and proposed work.
For an occupied home, discuss how work areas will be separated and whether particular rooms will be unavailable. Materials with long lead times should be identified before a start date is promised.
Talk to Karigari about your fit-out
Share the property location, current condition, floor plan, intended use and desired completion window. If you already have a design, mention which drawings and material selections are ready. If you need help developing the concept, start with our interior design service.
For improvements to an existing home, see apartment renovation or villa renovation in Dubai. You can also use our contractor comparison checklist to prepare questions for your first discussion.
Your questions, answered.
Is fit-out the same as renovation?
The terms overlap. Fit-out usually focuses on making an interior ready for use, while renovation updates an existing space. The written scope matters more than the label.
Can I discuss a project outside Dubai?
Yes, send the emirate, property type and proposed scope. Availability and delivery arrangements need to be confirmed for each UAE enquiry.
